I am Alice. I live in a one-room cabin in the woods with my husband, John, and our dog, Rex. In this tiny cabin, there is a big world for us; we read books, play musical instruments, and write about our experiences.
The outside of the cabin is also marvellous. In our garden, we can grow various fruit and vegetables, but we cannot eat all of them at once. That is why we dry them in summer to eat in winter. We also bury potatoes and onions under the soil in autumn to prevent them from going bad so we can eat them fresh in winter.
There is no public power supply in this area. We can generate electricity with solar panels and wind turbines, but we can use only a small amount of it. For that, we cannot use an oven, iron, or other electrical devices. John usually cooks our meals on a metal stove outside.
There is not any Internet connection or mobile phone reception, so we cannot get in touch with our beloved ones. Actually, this is not a big problem because they come and visit us here every six months. Being in nature and producing our own food and energy makes us feel self-sufficient and independent.
